Saturday's Speakers-
Kenneth L. Starcher - Director of
the Alternative Energy Institute will speak on
Wind Energy for the home and community.
The Alternative Energy
Institute (AEI) was formed in 1977 at
West Texas State University, Texas, USA, as an outgrowth of
wind energy research begun in 1970. AEI's primary emphasis
has been placed on wind energy, though certain research and
education are also on
solar energy. Recognized both nationally and
internationally, AEI is proud to be the major information
resource of wind energy for the State of Texas.
AEI's program includes: wind
data collection and analysis of the wind characteristics;
evaluation of
wind turbines; research, development, and design of
renewable energy systems; classes, seminars, workshops,
training programs, publications, and information
dissemination; consulting for industry, governments, and
individuals.
Dr. Richard Erdlac, Director of Energy
Technologies Research and Commercialization for Energy America Inc.,
will speak on Geothermal Energy for home heating and cooling, and
community energy generation.
Dr. Erdlac has over 27-years experience
as a structural geologist and senior exploration geophysicist within
the oil, gas, and geothermal industries; including the academic
community. His work at Gulf Oil Corporation covered the Permian,
Palo Duro, Tatum, and Tucumcari Basins of Texas and New Mexico. He
co-founded a non-profit earth resources institute in Midland, TX,
conducting regional energy studies for eighteen major and
independent companies. He has conducted surface mapping in Guatemala
and the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, and in southeastern New Mexico.
Dr. Erdlac brings extensive academic
research experience from
Texas Tech University and the University of Texas of the
Permian Basin Center for Energy and Economic
Diversification. He holds degrees in Physics and Geology from the
University of Pittsburgh and the University of Texas at Austin. He
is a registered professional geologist, and has over 70 technical
articles published within the industry.
